Is the outside of the crock-pot (the silver, metal part) supposed to be very hot to the touch? I just used my digital thermometer to check the outside temperature and it’s around 173°. Others I’ve owned have never felt this hot.

Hello! Due to the proximity between the heating element and the exterior of our slow cookers, it is normal for them to get quite hot on the outside. The heating element wraps around the sides of the unit. Therefore, on both the outside of the unit and in the product's instruction manual we recommend using a hot pad if you need to touch the unit during cooking. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Hello there Jewels127, Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! On this unit, you can schedule a meal with MyTime Technology, first you need to set up the timer so it shows the actual time. Later, simply select your food type, amount, and you will be able to control what time will cooking cycle finish. MyTime automatically adjusts cooking cycle to your exact time. There are also Manual options for more control. After the cooking cycle is complete, the slow cooker will automatically switch to Warm setting and the timer will show how long the unit is on Warm. We hope this information helps. Should you have any further inquiries, we encourage you to please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time.

How would I cook chicken in a cream sauce using the mytime feature when my chicken breast pieces weigh a total of 4.3 lbs?

Hello! Here is a recipe for cooking chicken in a cream sauce using a Crockpot and the MyTime feature for 4.3 lbs of chicken breast pieces: Ingredients: 4.3 lbs chicken breast pieces Salt and pepper, to taste 1/4 cup all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons butter 1 onion, chopped 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 cup chicken broth 1 cup heavy cream 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (optional) Instructions: Season the chicken with salt and pepper. Dredge the chicken in flour, shaking off any excess. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set it aside. Add the onion and garlic to the skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes, or until softened. Transfer the onion and garlic to the crockpot. Add the chicken broth and heavy cream in the skillet and stir to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Pour the mixture over the chicken in the crockpot. Add the chicken breast to the crockpot, make sure they are covered with the sauce. Cook on low for 4-6 hours or on high for 2-3 hours, or until the chicken is cooked through and tender. Garnish with parsley before serving. Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of your chicken breast pieces and your desired level of doneness. You can use a meat thermometer or the MytTme feature you have to check if the chicken is cooked through. The internal temperature of the chicken should reach 165°F (74°C) when it is fully cooked. Enjoy your meal!
