Is setting the timer mandatory for the crockpot to cook? I set the crockpot on high for eight hours. I then changed the temp from high to low and walked away for an hour and came back and realized the timer wasn't on. Was it still cooking?

Hello, Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! Yes, the timer on your CrockPot needs to be set up. Press the SELECT button to choose a programmed time and temperature. Cooking time options include 4 or 6 hours on HIGH or 8 or 10 hours on LOW. The corresponding light illuminates, the slow cooker heats, and the internal timer starts counting down the time. Choosing the feature will automatically set up the temperature. Please remember, there is always one feature per cooking (you can cook either on high or low), afterwards it will automatically switch to Warm setting. We hope this information proves helpful, and if you have any questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crockpot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. Hello there! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question! Both low and high stabilizes at 209°F. The difference is the time it takes to reach that temperature. Low takes 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point while high takes 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point. The warm setting is around 160-170°F. For further assistance, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. Hey there, CPrice! Thanks for reaching out to us. We are sorry to hear that the digital display has stopped working on your slow cooker. Please accept our sincerest apology for the inconvenience this has caused you. You may need to reset your slow cooker. To do this, simply hold down the select and power buttons for 30 seconds while it is plugged in. You will then want to unplug the unit and plug it back in. This should resolve the issue you described. We hope it helps. Thank you and have a nice day!

Hey there, Tweedy! Thanks for reaching out to us. On your slow cooker, both high and low stabilize at the same temperature (209°F); it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. On high, it takes approximately 3-4 hours, whereas on low, it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. You can cook the ribs on LOW for 6 - 8 hours or on HIGH for 4 - 5 hours, however, the low setting is preferable for this cut of meat. We hope this information helps. Thank you and have a nice day!
