Hello. We regularly employ rigorous third-party testing to ensure that our Slow Cookers meet or exceed all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards, including those related to lead content. The glaze of our ceramic pots is a silicate made of quartz, feldspar, and clay. The glaze is covered over the pot, fired at high temperature to melt the glaze, and then cooled down. The glaze liquid is then turned into coating the same as glass film on the surface of the pot. This does not contain Teflon, PTFE & PFOA. Consumers should feel confident that our products are safe to use. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. Hi Ron51. On your slow cooker, both high and low stabilize at the same temperature (209°F); it is just a matter of how long it takes to reach the simmer point. On high, it takes approximately 3-4 hours, whereas, on low, it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. Hi Penay. Crock-Pot slow cookers are energy efficient, only using 75 and 150 watts of electricity on LOW and between 150 and 210 watts on HIGH (equal to 2 standard light bulbs). Hi SJK171. The lid should not be locked while you are cooking. Locking the lid while cooking will maintain the steam pressure which can affect the slow cooker’s performance. The locking lid is only for traveling with the slow cooker. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat.
