Thank you for your question! The lid of the Crock-Pot 6 Qt. Cook &amp; Carry Programmable Slow Cooker is designed to be locked for carrying and transporting the pot. 
You do not need to lock the lid while cooking, as the slow cooker is designed to operate with the lid resting securely in place without locking. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask!

The Crock-Pot&reg; 6 Qt. Cook &amp; Carry Programmable Slow Cooker automatically switches to the &quot;Warm&quot; setting when the cooking time ends, ensuring that your food stays warm and doesn't overcook.
