Hello! Both low and high stabilizes at 209°F. The difference is the time it takes to reach that temperature. Low: 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. High: 3-4 hours to reach the simmer point. Hey there, Beulah! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. The vent in the lid does not affect the cooking time. The reason the lid includes a vent hole is to allow a gradual release of steam during the cooking process. Without this hole, the food would likely overcook due to excess pressure within the product. We hope this helps. Should you have any further inquiries, don't hesitate to reach out to us at 1-800-323-9519 or email us at

Hey there, GingerS! Thanks for reaching out to us. We will be more than happy to answer your question. The lid should fit loose enough to allow some steam to escape. There should be no concern if you see a small gap between your lid and the crock itself. Please note that the lid should not be locked while you are cooking. The locking lid is only for traveling with the slow cooker. If you feel your lid is sitting excessively loose, please don't hesitate to contact us at 1-800-323-9519 or email us at
[email protected]. We're here for you Monday to Friday from 9:00 am till 5:00 pm EST. Our product specialists will be more than happy to help you.
