Hey there, koff! Thanks you for your inquiry. Dried beans should be boiled before adding to a recipe, especially red kidney beans. Cover the beans with 3 times their volume of unsalted water and bring to a boil. Boil 10 minutes, reduce heat, cover and allow to simmer 1 1/2 hours or until beans are tender. Hey there, koff! Thanks for reaching out to us. To 1 cup rinsed and drained brown rice of your choice, add 2 cups water and be sure all the rice is below the water. Add salt, if desired. Cover and cook until the water is completely absorbed and the rice is tender, 2 to 3 hours on the HIGH setting. If the rice is not cooked completely after the suggested time, add an extra 1 to 1&frac12; cups of liquid per cup of cooked rice and continue cooking for 20 to 30 minutes.
