Hi! After you take the stoneware out from the oven, it should cool off before putting it back to the base - there is a big difference between the temperatures, which may result in a damage. Hi The heating base is subject to residual heat from the cooking cycle. Due to the proximity between the heating element and the exterior of our slow cookers, it is normal for them to get quite hot on the outside. Therefore, on both the outside of the unit and in the product's instruction manual we recommend using a hot pad if you need to touch the unit during cooking. Do not touch the heating base immediately after removing the stoneware. Allow cooling before handling.
