Care & Maintenance
    • ALWAYS turn your unit off, unplug it from the electrical outlet, and allow it to cool before cleaning. Dishwasher safe parts can be washed in the dishwasher or with hot, soapy water. Do not use abrasive cleaning compounds or scouring pads. A cloth, sponge, or rubber spatula will usually remove residue. To remove water spots and other stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner or vinegar. As with any fine ceramic, the stoneware and lid will not withstand sudden temperature changes. Do not wash the stoneware or lid with cold water when they are hot.

There is no replacement power chord for model SCR450-HX. That sucks! Otherwise it does what its supposed to do. Is there a way to replace the power chord on this model?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Crock Pot looks beautiful sitting on my counter As a single person this is the perfect size to be useful for me. A bonus is the way it looks, almost a piece of art which pleases my artistic sensibilities. It's important to note that the pot must be at least half full when using it. So if you are not entertaining more than yourself, you cannot use the larger Crock Pots on the market.

But I was very disappointed after I paid 30.00 on line to fine the exact thing in stores for 17.00! Also, I don't like the whole in the top. It totally made my food dry out and you have to be very careful to get the top on just right or there will be an opening. Wouldn't reccomendit unless you just want to look at it!

It has low, medium, high and warm. I love using this for meals I can make early in the day and then rest till my husband comes home for dinner. I am recovering from cancer so this is a blessing. The warm feature is great!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Your in Control Have used this baby for years. just fill it up with your favorite dish, add water ( I add a envelope McCormick stew power) or stock , set on low and walk away .. for me its a nap. When you get back from work ..say 8 hours you open the door and you smell heaven .. get out that bowl and go to town. Its a great healthy no fuss meal. In the winter I put the rest in the garage and start it over the next day with a bit more goodies. Clean up is no problem, just take the ceramic bowl out, fill with water and a bit of dish soap. The next day empty and it just about spotless.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quality Construction ~ Worse Customer Service This was given to us as a holiday gift. Used it for the first time 2 months later and was disappointed that, even on High, the contents were not heating up very quickly. Transferred contents to a stovetop pan to heat then back to the crockpot to simmer. Second usage came a few months after that. Assembled stew ingredients into the crockpot, set on high and let it go for a couple of hours. Upon checking, noticed the level of the liquid had lowered significantly. No, it hadn't boiled off ... it had leaked into the base unit! Once again, transferred crockpot contents to stovetop pot. When the stoneware was being rinsed out, it suddenly cracked into 3 pieces. Must've been a hairline crack that just let loose. Ordered a replacement part based on inputting the model # shown on the crockpot base. When order is arrived, it was way too huge to fit into base. Called the company to report this and ask for an Return Authorization. Was told we would have to pay for return shipping ourselves! Decided to just abandon this piece of junk. The replacement ceramic liner will now be used as a flower pot.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not advertised size We bought this for a 4.5 quart crock pot, but the first time I used it, I couldn't fit my ingredients in it! When I measured its capacity I found when filled to the brim it holds 3 quarts, 2.5 cups. That's a half cup less than a full quart small! I asked a question about that in the questions section below and was told the glaze might reduce the capacity somewhat. I sincerely doubt there are 3.5 cups of glaze on the inside of the stoneware! I guess like everything else, the company shrinks the product and hopes consumers won't notice.

This is so much easier to clean with the removable Crockery.I just purchased a newer 4 1/2 Qt. model to replace the 30 year model that finally quit working. I liked this new one so much I purchased a 2nd 4 1/2 Qt.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Heats so slowly. I got this as a Christmas present. I love my original, very old Crock-Pot, that is all one unit, no removal crock. I expected to love this newer version, but when I tried cooking chili on High for 40 minutes, the chili was barely warm. The crock doesn't fit tightly in the heating unit; there is about 1/2 inch of space between the crock and the unit. Is it supposed to be this way, or do I have a defective cooker? I want to use this gift, but I need it to heat and cook the food. Help!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from REPLACEMENT LID I use this Crock-Pot for the first time, it worked well but when I placed the lid in warm soapy dish water to wash it the lid shattered. I was very disappointed that the lid is not listed in the replacement parts and when I priced it at Amazon it was almost more than what I paid for the Crock-Pot. After reading the reviews I wonder if it's even worth replacing the lid or just throwing it out.
