Measuring the capacity in slow cookers has been inconsistent in some ways within the industry. The standard measurement for capacity is to the Spill Line – meaning the highest point possible before spilling outside the slow cooker. Some models have instead used measurement to the Fill Line – meaning it fills to the last lip before where the lid rests. The industry standard for measuring slow cooker capacity is to the spill line. As small as that may seem when looking at the stoneware, the capacity difference can be ½ quart or more.
