Hello, Thank you for your question! Yes, rice can be cooked in the Crock-Pot 1.5-Quart Slow Cooker, though results may vary compared to a traditional rice cooker. For best results, we recommend using a 1:2 ratio of rice to water and cooking on high for 1.5–2.5 hours. Stir occasionally if possible to help prevent sticking. Tip: Rinsing the rice beforehand can help improve texture and reduce excess starch. If you have any more questions or concerns, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time. Hello, thanks for reaching out about your SCR151-BP-BR 1.5-quart slow cooker, and congrats on the gift! Even though your model doesn’t have a knob or dial, it’s not just for warming food. You can absolutely cook raw food recipes in it! Here's what you need to know: Cooking Capabilities This model operates at a steady temperature equivalent to the LOW setting on traditional CrockPot models. It’s designed to cook dips, sauces, appetizers, and even single-serving meals from scratch. You simply plug it in, and it begins heating automatically. No need to adjust settings, just prep your ingredients. What You Can Cook: Soups and stews, Small cuts of meat (like chicken breasts or pork chops), Vegetables, Pasta sauces, and even desserts like chocolate fondue or warm dips. Tips for Best Results Always use the lid during cooking to retain heat. Place root vegetables near the bottom for better cooking. Avoid overfilling; leave space for ingredients to expand. Cooking times are similar to LOW settings: around 6–8 hours for most meals. So yes, your SCR151 is a fully functional slow cooker, perfect for small meals and cozy recipes. I was trying to get a replacement screw for a lid several years ago. I was unable to get any help here. I eventually found a pack of screws at a hardware store that work! It was NOT easy! Look for METRIC - Pan Phillips Machine - Zinc - M6-1.00 x 10 (HILLMAN - item #127132). Because they are zinc, the steam/moisture will cause them to turn to a white powdery look (it will lose its nice shiny silvery finish).

Hello. Thank you for your inquiry. There is one temperature setting on this model. When plugged in, the temperature of this unit is equivalent to the LOW setting on Crock-Pot slow cookers that have HIGH and LOW settings. The temperature stabilizes at 209°F and it takes approximately 7-8 hours to reach the simmer point. Beans must be softened completely before combining with sugar and/or acid foods. Dried beans, especially red kidney beans, should be boiled before adding to a recipe. Cover the beans with 3 times their volume of unsalted water and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, reduce heat, cover and allow to simmer for 1 1/2 hours or until beans are tender. Soaking in water, if desired, should be completed before boiling. Discard the water after soaking or boiling. If you have any more questions, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat.
