Crock-Pot® Slow Cooker Playdough

Homemade playdough in a slow cooker is a fun and creative way to involve kids in the kitchen as it doesn’t require an open flame or hot stovetop. This recipe comes together in just about an hour and the playdough lasts for several weeks when stored in an airtight container! 

What You’ll Need: 

  • 2 cups flour 

  • 1/2 cup salt 

  • 1/4 cup cream of tartar 

  • 2 cups water 

  • 2 tablespoons oil 

  • 1 to 2 teaspoons food coloring 

 

Directions: 

  1. Combine flour, salt, and cream of tartar in a bowl. 

  1. In a separate bowl combine the water, oil, and food coloring. 

  1. Pour dry ingredients into the slow cooker; add in wet ingredients and mix thoroughly. 

  1. Cook on HIGH for 1 hour, stirring often for the first half hour of cooking time, then once or twice for remaining cooking time. 

  1. Dough will be done when it forms and no longer sticks to the sides of your slow cooker. 

  1. Remove mixture from slow cooker, knead and place in container to cool. 

  1. When cool, store in fridge in your plastic airtight container. 

TIP: Add glitter for an extra sparkle if desired!
