Mama’s Beer Chili Slow Cooker Recipe
Here’s a turkey chili recipe with a twist—a cup of beer is the secret ingredient that gives it an extra depth of flavor.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 package (10 ounces) frozen corn
- 1 can (about 15 ounces) kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- 1 cup dark beer
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/3 cup diced mild green chiles
- 3 tablespoons chili powder
- 3 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
- 3 cubes beef bouillon
- 1 to 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon curry powder
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 large Vidalia onion, sliced
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 1 ½ to 2 pounds ground turkey
- Sliced green onions, for garnish
- Prepared corn bread (optional)
Instructions:
- Combine tomatoes, corn, beans, beer, honey, chiles, chili powder, hot pepper sauce, bouillon cubes, flour, and curry powder in Crockpot™ Slow Cooker; stir to blend.
- Heat oil in large skillet over medium-low heat. Add diced onion; cook and stir 5 minutes. Add garlic; cook and stir 2 minutes. Add turkey; cook and stir 6 to 8 minutes or until turkey is no longer pink. Remove to Crockpot Slow Cooker.
- Cover; cook on LOW 8 to 10 hours or on HIGH 4 to 6 hours. Garnish each serving with green onions. Serve with corn bread, if desired.
