Citrus Chinese Dates with Toasted Hazelnuts Express Pressure Cooker Recipe

  • 2 cups pitted dates
  • ¾ cup water
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • Strips of peel from 1 lemon (yellow part only)
  • ¼ cup hazelnuts, shelled and toasted*
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • *To toast hazelnuts, spread in single layer in heavy skillet. Cook and stir over medium heat 1 to 2 minutes or until nuts are lightly browned.
  1. Combine dates, water, sugar and lemon peel in Crockpot™ Express Pressure Cooker. Secure lid. Press MANUAL PRESSURE, set temperature to HIGH and time to 4 minutes. Make sure Steam Release Valve is in the "Seal" (closed) position. Press START/STOP.
  2. Once cooking is complete, natural release pressure 5 minutes. Release remaining pressure.
  3. Place dates in serving dishes. Sprinkle with hazelnuts. Top with whipped cream, if desired.
