Hello Nigel, Thank you for your question about the Crockpot Little Dipper Food Warmer. This unit is designed for gently warming and keeping dips, sauces, and similar foods at serving temperature, not for cooking raw ingredients like rice. For best results and food safety, rice should be fully cooked using a proper rice cooker or stovetop method before being transferred for warming if needed. If you have any more questions or comments, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Hello Thank you for your question about the Crockpot™ Little Dipper® Food Warmer. This unit is designed specifically for warming dips, sauces, and small portions — it does not reach the high cooking temperatures needed for safely cooking meats like pork chops. For food safety, pork should be cooked in a standard crock-pot® slow cooker or another appliance that can maintain proper cooking temperatures. If you have any more questions or concerns, please reach out to us via https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or through LiveChat. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9 am -5 pm Eastern Time. Hello, Thank you for your inquiry about our Crockpot™ Little Dipper® Food Warmer. To clean the unit, allow it to cool first. It must never be submerged in water or other liquid. After emptying, fill the Little dipper with warm soapy water to loosen food remains. Abrasive cleaners must not be used; a cloth, sponge or rubber spatula will usually remove any residue. To remove any water spots or other stains, use a non-abrasive cleaner or vinegar. The outside of the unit may be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. Wipe dry. Do not use abrasive cleaners. If you have more questions, please reach out to us via our official "Contact Us" website. We’re available Mon.-Fri. 9am -5pm Eastern Time. Thank you! Hi, Thank you for contacting Crock-Pot. The Crockpot™ Little Dipper® Food Warmer typically heats food to around 155–175°F (68–79°C). This temperature is ideal for keeping dips, sauces, and melted chocolate warm without burning. However, it does not have adjustable heat settings, so the exact temperature may vary slightly depending on room conditions and usage. If you have any other questions, our team is happy to help here via Messenger, through our contact form: https://www.crock-pot.com/support/contact-us or , or by phone at 1-800-323-9519, Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM Eastern Time. Although I've had mine for more than 15 years, I used it for the first time today. My Little Dipper kept water at 147 degrees. I heated the water in a coffee cup in the microwave first since it wasn't warming in the Little Dipper after 15 minutes of trying. So I would recommend you prepare your recipe by another method and transfer it to the Little Dipper to keep it warm. It was perfect to keep the water warm while I submerged a glass jar of honey in the water bath to melt out the honey crystals.
