Slow Cooking With Coffee: Tasty Dishes to Try
You might start every morning with a fresh cup of coffee, but that's not the only time you can enjoy it. There are many great meals that can be enhanced with the drink, and we're not just talking about washing down your dinner with coffee. Using java as a marinade or as part of a sauce can give any dish a bold, interesting flavor that can't be duplicated with any other ingredient or spice. Coffee Baked beans
Try putting a different kind of bean in with your baked beans. When the rich taste of coffee mixes with the brown sugar in this recipe, it gives it a bold, sweet flavor that goes perfectly with your dish.
- 3 14.5-ounce cans beans, drained and rinsed
- 1/2 cup hickory-flavored barbeque sauce
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1 cup brewed coffee
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 large onion, diced.
Pour beans into slow cooker, then add barbeque sauce, brown sugar, coffee, pepper and onion. Stir well, then cover with lid and cook on low for 8-10 hours until the mixture thickens. Serve warm and enjoy!
Coffee Marinated Steak
Never use store bought steak sauce again. If you've never used coffee to marinate your steak, you're missing out. Use this bold mix for the perfect meat seasoning, and keep in mind that day-old coffee actually works best in this dish!
- 2 teaspoons canola oil
- 1 2-pound beef sirloin tip roast, cut in half
- 1 1/2 cups sliced fresh mushrooms
- 1/3 cup sliced green onions
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 1/2 cups brewed coffee
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper.
Pour oil onto a large saucepan over medium heat and cook beef roast, flipping over as each side browns. Place meat in slow cooker. In the same saucepan, add mushrooms, onions, garlic cloves and coffee. Cook for 5 minutes, then remove from heat add mixture to slow cooker. Sprinkle in the salt, sugar, chili powder and pepper, then cover with lid. Cook on low for 8 hours, then serve.

- 1/2 cup brewed coffee
- 2 pounds beef chuck, cut into 1 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 tablespoon chili powder
- Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
- 2 medium onions, chopped
- 1 bell pepper, seeded and chopped
- 2 celery ribs, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, smashed
- 2 15-ounce cans pinto beans
- Shredded cheddar cheese, sliced scallions and diced avocado, for topping.
In a small bowl, combine tomato paste and coffee. Take the beef and cover with chili powder, salt and pepper. Place in slow cooker. Add onions, bell pepper, celery, garlic and beans. Cover with lid and cook on low for 8 hours. Sprinkle cheese, scallions and avocado while warm so cheese melts, then serve immediately.
