How to Celebrate Crocktober

  • Share

It's that time of year again - the leaves have started to fall, the pumpkins have hit the shelves and the rounds of cider are being poured. Even the scarecrow decorations are beginning to peak out. From the kick-off of football season to Halloween and everything in between, Crocktober offers endless reasons for celebration. Join the party by indulging in fall favorites like pumpkin recipes, butternut squash soups and tasty apple-inspired dishes.

Get Festive
To perfect the variety of festive dishes that Crocktober features, get yourself in the spirit. Enhance your cooking space with seasonal decorations such as pumpkins both large and small, corn husk garland and seasonal leaf and floral arrangements. Fall decor doesn't have to be pricey - most of what you need can be found right outside your front door.

Get Ready
Knowing that you'll be doing a lot of cooking this month, prepping your kitchen with the essentials will help you to stay on task. Clean any clutter from your countertops that may have gathered over the summer such as junk mail, bills and old school work. Break out your best serving trays and get your serving utensils ready, and if you'll be the one hosting most of the action, be sure that your kitchen is properly stocked.

Get Seasonal
In addition to the vibrant red, yellow and orange foliage, fall also has an array of tasty seasonal vegetables to offer. From pumpkins to eggplant and the last of the corn and sweet potatoes, there is a bounty of vegetables that make for great cooking. The list of seasonal gourds and squashes alone is endless. The rich flavors of these colorful vegetables bring slow cooked dishes to life with their taste and zest. A bowl of fall vegetables can also double as a decorative piece.
