3 Football-Inspired Appetizers

Now that it's several weeks into the football season, you're probably looking for some new inspiration for your next Sunday night football get-together. Fortunately, there are endless football-themed dips and snacks that all of your fans will love. Show off your team pride with the Arizona Cardinals NFL Crock-Pot® Cook & Carry™ Slow Cooker and try out these three new football-inspired appetizers:

1. Mini Barbeque Football Hot Dogs
Forget the baseball park style foot longs - these tiny hot dogs will be a big hit among your football friends. You only need three ingredients to create these this tasty snack.


  • 2 packages mini sausages
  • 18 ounces grape jelly
  • 42 ounces barbeque sauce.

Place sausages, grape jelly and barbeque sauce into your slow cooker. Heat on low for 5 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours. Serve with toothpicks and enjoy!

2. Bean and Cheese Queso
Any form of nachos are a staple of football games. With the addition of beer and chilies, this tortilla chip dip recipe really kicks things up a notch.


  • 2 cans refried beans
  • 1 can chopped green chilies
  • 1 cup salsa
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup beer
  • 2 cans cheese cooking sauce
  • 1/2 cup chopped cilantro.

Insert a liner into your slow cooker, then add in refried beans, chilies, salsa, oregano, cumin and garlic powder. Mix until smooth, then add beer and cheese cooking sauce. Cook on low for 2 hours. Garnish with cilantro and serve with a bowl of tortilla chips.

3. Cajun Boiled Peanuts
Mix things up and instead of making Cajun chicken wings, try this Cajun peanut recipe!


  • 1 pound raw peanuts, in shell
  • 1 package dry crab boil
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 cup salt
  • 1 package dry crab boil
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons red pepper flakes
  • 8 cups water.

In your slow cooker, bring together the water and raw peanuts. Pour in garlic powder, salt, Cajun seasoning and red pepper flakes and mix well. Place the dry crab boil package on top and cook on low for 12 to 14 hours. The longer the peanuts cook, the stronger the flavor!

Due to the slow ramp up, and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Recipes can be increased or decreased by one quart size per the cooking instructions. For smaller sauces and dips that calls for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size.
