The Night Before
A day of shopping requires a lot of energy and chances are you'll be waking up extra early to beat the crowds on Black Friday. Prepare this breakfast casserole in your Crock-Pot® Smart-Pot® 4-Quart Digital Slow Cooker the night before and you'll wake up to a protein-packed egg dish that will keep you shopping all day long.

  • 12 eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 6 strips of bacon
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 red pepper, chopped
  • 2 pounds hash brown potatoes, frozen and thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried dill weed
  • Salt and pepper, to taste.

Cook bacon in a skillet over medium heat for about 10 minutes, flipping occasionally, until browned. Drain bacon slices and crumble. In another skillet, heat the onion, red pepper and garlic. Stir potatoes into the mixture, cook for several minutes and remove from heat. Spoon 1/3 of the potato mixture into your slow cooker, follow by 1/3 of the cheese and 1/3 of the bacon. Repeat these layers two more times. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, dill, salt and pepper. Pour into slow cooker, cover and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours overnight. The meal will be ready to serve when you wake up eager to take on Black Friday!

In your slow cooker, combine the cocoa powder, sugar and salt. Add in the hot water and stir slowly until it becomes thick. Mix in whole milk and light cream. Cover and heat on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Remove cover and add in bittersweet chocolate pieces, stirring until completed melted. Blend in vanilla before serving. If you don't wish to serve the hot chocolate immediately, cover and keep on low-heat setting for up to 2 hours. Ladle into mugs, drizzle hot fudge on top if desired and enjoy!
