3 Must Have Dips for Your Super Bowl Party

Chances are, not all of your guests' favorite football teams made it to this year's Super Bowl. They may not have a strong allegiance to the two competing teams, but they're probably still looking forward to a fun evening of football, friends and food.

You can't alter the football line up to accommodate your friends' preferences, but you can tailor your menu to please their varying tastes. Whether your guests prefer cheese, meat or vegetables, there are many different dips to try. Added bonus? With your Crock-Pot® Hook Up® Connectable Entertaining System, you can serve all three of these dishes at the same time.

1. Sports Fan Spinach and Artichoke Dip
This cheesy, veggie-filled option is great for those who enjoy hearty dips. Serve with your favorite pita chip and a dollop of sour cream for optimal taste.

You'll need:

  • 2 packages frozen spinach, thawed
  • 2 cans artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
  • 6 ounces cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Line the bottom of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray. Add thawed spinach, artichoke hearts, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic, milk, paprika, salt and pepper, then use a wooden spoon to ensure all ingredients are well-blended. Cover the slow cooker and set on low for three hours. After 30 minutes, stir the ingredients again to ensure they have blended well, then replace the lid. Top with a spoonful of sour cream before serving. 

2. Football Fajita Bean Dip
This delicious dip blends your favorite vegetables, cheeses and meats for the ultimate game time snack.

You'll need:

  • 3 chicken breasts
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 large red pepper, chopped
  • 1 large green pepper, chopped
  • 2 cups cooked corn
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese
  • 1 large green onion, chopped
  • 16 ounces sour cream
  • 1 large tomato, diced
  • 1 packet seasoning mix
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Spray the bottom of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray, then place chicken breasts in the stoneware. Top with salt, pepper and a dash of seasoning, then cover and cook for three hours on high. Remove the chicken from the slow cooker, and when they're cool, slice breasts into bite-sized pieces and put them back in the stoneware. Add black beans, refried beans, red and green peppers, corn, cheddar cheese, onion, sour cream, tomato, remaining seasoning, salt and pepper, then stir until ingredients are well-blended. Replace the lid and cook for an additional 1 to 2 hours on low. Serve with tortilla chips.

3. Pizza Dip for the Party Enthusiasts
You really can't go wrong with pizza, but instead of serving a pie, try this savory dip. Serve with buttery crackers for optimal results.

You'll need:

  • 1 jar pizza sauce (or 2 cups homemade sauce)
  • 1 package pepperoni, chopped 
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
  • 3/4 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 small onion, diced

Coat your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray, then add all the ingredients. Stir well to ensure they are thoroughly combined. Cover and cook for 3 to 4 hours on low, or 1 to 2 hours on high. 

Due to the slow ramp up, and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Recipes can be increased or decreased by one quart size per the cooking instructions. For smaller sauces and dips that calls for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size.
