Slow Cooker Mushroom Crostini
Serve these savory pastries along with your favorite glass of white wine, as the buttery flavors complement each other well.
- 1 pound of mushrooms, sliced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1/4 cup white wine
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar and 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Sliced French bread
Combine mushrooms, olive oil, white wine, green onions and garlic in the slow cooker, then cover and cook for 4 to 6 hours on low. When the filling is done cooking, place slices of bread on an oven sheet. In a small bowl, combine the balsamic vinegar and olive oil, then coat the liquid on your bread slices. Allow the bread to toast, then serve with the mushroom filling.
Slow Cooker Overnight Apple Butter
This is the perfect dressing for crackers, bread or biscuits.
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/8 teaspoon ground mace
- 2 1/2 pounds chopped and peeled apples
Combine all ingredients in your slow cooker, then allow the mixture to cook for 10 hours on low. Spoon out one-third of the mix into a sieve, discard the pulp, and continue with the rest of the mixture until it's all been sieved. Place the ingredients back in the slow cooker and allow the butter to cook for an additional 1 1/2 hours on high.
