Spring Break Party Appetizers
The kids will soon be on spring break, and you'll need to plan accordingly. That means going grocery shopping and preparing some quick and fun snacks to keep them fed. Try some of these healthy approaches to snack time to add some excitement to spring break.
Chocolate Dipped Bananas
Try this classic dessert that satisfies your sweet tooth and gives you a small dose of healthy fruit.
- 3 medium bananas
- 1 bar dark chocolate.
Break the chocolate bar into pieces and place in a small saucepan. Over medium heat, melt the chocolate until it turns completely to liquid. Remove from heat. Cut the peeled bananas into halves and roll in the chocolate sauce, then arrange them on tin foil. Place the chocolate covered bananas in the freezer for several hours, and enjoy!
Food is instantly better when it's on a stick. Make these for a quick, refreshing bite to eat.
- 1 package cherry tomatoes
- Mozzarella cheese
- 1 handful basil leaves
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- Several wooden skewers.
Wash the tomatoes and basil leaves in cold water, then slice cheese into small blocks. Alternate between tomato, cheese block and folded basil leaf, and stick the skewer through the arrangement. Lightly drizzle olive oil on top of each skewer and serve.
Apple Peanut Butter Bites
An apple a day keeps the doctor away, but it doesn't need to be so plain. Add peanut butter for a little more protein and excitement.
- 2 green apples
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 pack of toothpicks.
Thinly slice both apples. Spread a dollop of peanut butter on one slice and place another one on top of it. Repeat until all apple slices are paired up, and stick a toothpick through each one. Enjoy!
There's nothing like a mini burger to instantly put a smile on kids' faces. Try this no-fuss recipe to prepare a light lunch without having to hang around the stove.
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup Italian Seasoned Bread Crumbs
- 1 egg
In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg and bread crumbs. Mix well until it's completely blended together. Roll into small balls and flatten to resemble patties. Place them in your Crock-Pot® Smart-Pot® Slow Cooker with Travel Strap. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. Remove patties from your slow cooker and serve on small buns.
