Not great features It's very difficult to use this slow cooker because of only 4 settings. Many recipes call for 4 hours high and 4 hours low. I cannot find how to do 2 different settings for one session without being there to watch, which defeats the purpose of this appliance. My old unit gave me the choice of 30 minute increments and would switch from high to low as programmed, then kept food warm until supper. I noticed in all the responses, people were asked to call the service department. That doesn't seem to address the problem of the one temperature system. July 17, 2015
Rival Smart Pot best for burning food! Got the Rival Smart Pot as a gift & finally got to use it. I've always loved Rival Crockpot & have used them for decades. I was so excited to get the Smart Pot. Now I'm so disappointed! Two try & neither met my expectations. Made a beef roast with veggies; everything was done sooner than expected. Today I made spaghetti sauce. Started at10:30AM, set for the 8 hr. cook time & left for 6 1/2 hrs. The spaghetti sauce was cooked dry with just under 1/2 in. thick burnt black around the sides. Fortunately, I was able to salvage enough sauce for tonight's supper. Unfortunately, I was making enough sauce for 3 suppers. What has happened to Rival's product quality?! July 8, 2015
Just Okay I recently purchased this crockpot and used it for the first time - I was disappointed in myself for not doing more research but I have owned 2 other crockpots so I just trusted the name. The settings are limited and anyone that cooks with a crock-pot knows that you need more than 2 settings on high and 2 settings on low. I have recipes I have been cooking in a crockpot for years but I now end up either over-cooking or under-cooking them because I am limited by the time settings. Its like I have to be home to use the pot - which defeats my purpose of cooking in it overall. I think I am going to try and sell it and buy a more expensive crockpot that allows me to choose the amount of time I need food to cook for.... July 8, 2015
This product does not cook in time provided When I first bought this crock pot and attempted to cook a meal, I was extremely disappointed. But having used crock pot in the past, I did not blame it on the pot. I was living in an older house and assumed that the wiring was not correct and not providing proper voltage. I tried moving pot to different outlets with no luck. I recently moved into a newer home and was anxious to use my crock pot. I threw together ingredients for beef stew and set it on high for 6 hours. checked on it and nothing was done. reset on high for 4 hours. after 1 1/2 hours i checked on it and it was clear that my issues are with the pot not house wiring. I ended up pouring ingredients into a pot on the stove because I really wanted to eat tonight, not sometime tomorrow. Very disappointed in this product. It seems crock pot doesn't mean what it used to mean. June 30, 2015
Good features -- but it doesn't cook right Time and again we have found that it gives new meaning to "slow." For example, pinto beans were just starting to crumble with a strong bite after 6 hours. Setting in on 4 more hours doesn't do much better. We have a very old 6 qt one that does a much better job. May 18, 2015
Disappointed I purchased my first crockpot exactly like this several years ago. I used it at least every two weeks with no complaints until it died suddenly. I went out the next week and purchased the exact same model. When I got it out of the box the lid did not fit properly on the crock. I swapped lids and got it to work semi well few times but was unhappy enough with it that I have only used it about once a month. The past three times I have tried to use it to make a roast my carrots and potatoes would not even get cooked after being on all day. It is very disheartening to come home expecting a good supper and having to eat a frozen pizza. April 23, 2015
Product has great features. After buying this crock pot and washing all of the parts made a batch of Stuffed Pepper soup while it was cooking had that smell of a new product and any burn off. The problem is when this was done 6 hours later i had to throw out the entire pot of soup because of a foul plasic odor and taste in the soup cleaned everything up again with soap and water. filled the crock with water and set it on high for 6 hours with the paddle on the istir after 6 hours washed with soap and water started another batch of Stuffed Pepper soup 6 hours later soup was done and still a taste of plastic in the soup so now 12 quarts of soup down the drain because of plastic taste. The paddle seems to have the smell after it is hot.So this crock pot has cost more than i thought with the waste of ground sirlion, Bell peppers, tomato sauce, diced tomatos, garlic, and broth and no edible soup March 23, 2015
Cooks well but platic lid handle fell off I use my crockpot sparingly and was quite irritated that the lid handle is already unusable, it seems as if it has melted off the screw which holds it together. Other than that it is a good appliance thus far March 16, 2015
