Does it Slow Cook? The Miracle of Pulled Barbecue Tuna

Did you know that you can slow cook tuna? Not only that, but you can do so in pulled barbecue pork style, and the tuna is already pulled for you! Sometimes you discover a recipe that delightfully surprises you - this slow-cooked pulled barbecue tuna dish is one of those.

In fact, it's the perfect dish for satisfying any number of guests. If you find yourself frequently dining out or opting for takeout, the meals you do make at home can be a big deal, especially if you're making enough for a crowd - but you don't have to go it alone! Pulled Barbecue Tuna
For all of the barbecue lovers out there, adding this recipe to your list is a must. Soft and tender, tuna soaks up the perfect combination of sweet and savory in this barbecue sauce favorite. Served on regular-sized buns or on mini sliders, this pulled barbecue tuna dish will be a home run. Best of all, you can use the upper two crocks of your Crock-Pot® Swing and Serve™ Slow Cooker to create delectable homemade barbecue sauces for serving.

Ingredients:

  • 3 (5 ounce) cans tuna, drained
  • 1/2 cup sliced red onion
  • 3 cloves garlic, diced
  • 1 tablespoon water, or as needed
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon steak seasoning
  • 1 cup barbeque sauce
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 4 large soft rolls, warmed (or mini slider rolls)

Directions

  1. Open and drain cans of tuna, adding to slow cooker.
  2. Season with salt and pepper, to taste.
  3. Top with red onion and diced garlic.
  4. In a bowl, combine water, Worcestershire sauce, steak seasoning and barbecue sauce and pour over tuna.
  5. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 3 hours.
  6. Spread butter on insides of soft rolls.
  7. Swing open slow cooker for serving pulled tuna on rolls with additional barbecue sauce.
