3 Ways to Make Candy in Your Slow Cooker

Chances are you've already indulged in a piece or two of Halloween candy so far this month. Packaged candy is great for handing out to trick-or-treaters, but why not get creative and surprise costumed kids with some of your own? Using your Crock-Pot® 6-Quart Programmable Cook & Carry™ Slow Cooker, here are three confectionery concoctions you can create this Halloween.

Slow Cooker Peanut Candy Bar
This recipe calls for all of the same ingredients that you would use to make peanut brittle. However, with a slow cooker, you'll get a chewier treat that resembles a candy bar.


  • 4 cups peanuts
  • 3 cups sugar
  • 1 cup light corn syrup
  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups dark chocolate chips (optional).

In your slow cooker, combine the butter, corn syrup, sugar and vanilla. Cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Remove lid and stir well, adding in the baking soda. Cover and cook for another 30 minutes. Then add in the 4 cups of nuts, cooking for an additional 30 minutes or until the mixture has turned brown. If you opt for the chocolate, add in with the initial ingredients. Pour the mixture evenly across two different cookie sheets. Use a spatula to spread the mixture evenly. Allow them to cool for at least one hour at room temperature then cut them into pieces and enjoy!

White Peppermint Pretzels
This slow cooker candy produces a unique blend of mint and salt that is sure to blow any other chocolate covered pretzel recipe out of the park.


  • 1 package pretzels
  • 2 packages vanilla bark coating squares, finely chopped
  • 2 cups white chocolate morsels
  • 1 package white chocolate baking bars, chopped
  • 1 package hard peppermint candies, finely crushed
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract.

Combine the pretzels and all forms of white chocolate in your slow cooker. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours. Stir the chocolate mixture and then add in the peppermint extract and 1 1/4 cups of the crushed candies. Once mixed, drop small drops onto wax paper and top each one with the remaining crushed peppermint candies to decorate.

Slow Cooker Fondue
Chocolate covered strawberries, marshmallows and bananas on sticks make for tasty and easy candy treats.


  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • A pinch of salt
  • Banana slices, strawberries and marshmallows for dipping.

Combine chocolate chips, cream, milk, salt and vanilla extract in your slow cooker and heat on low for 1 hour. Stir the mixture every 20 minutes. Once the chocolate is completely melted, the fondue is ready for dipping.

Due to the slow ramp up, and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Recipes can be increased or decreased by one quart size per the cooking instructions. For smaller sauces and dips that calls for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size.
