There's nothing more satisfying than waking up to the delicious smells of breakfast. While these aromas are enticing, it can be difficult to find the motivation to get up and prepare a large meal in the wee hours of the morning.

Thankfully, with the use of your slow cooker, you can start one of these tantalizing dishes before you go to bed, ensuring that your breakfast buffet will be ready by the time you rise and shine the next morning.

Consider the following meals that you can set and forget before bedtime.

1. French Toast
This breakfast staple is among the most filling and delicious options out there - and, best of all, this dish can be reheated and eaten throughout the week. Begin by chopping a half loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces, then placing them at the bottom of your slow cooker. In a large bowl, blend 5 whole eggs, 1 1/2 cups milk, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. When the ingredients are thoroughly mixed, pour them over the bread pieces and use a spoon to ensure all pieces are well-coated. Allow the dish to cook on low for 4-6 hours, then top with your favorite maple syrup and fruit.

2. Sweet and Simple Oatmeal
If you're looking to cook a healthy option that can keep you energized all morning, consider an oatmeal that blends grains and fruits in a delicious dish. Prepare 1 cup of steel cut oats, 4 cups water, 1/4 cup butter, 1/2 cup blueberries, 1/2 cup chopped bananas, 1/2 cup chopped strawberries, 1 teaspoon cinnamon and 1 teaspoon brown sugar. Stir the ingredients in your slow cooker until they're well blended, then allow the mixture to heat on low for 8-9 hours.

3. Egg Casserole
For the breakfast lover, consider a concoction that blends the classics, including eggs, bacon, cheese and greens. You'll need to start by cracking a dozen eggs in a large bowl and beating them well, adding salt, pepper and your favorite greens. Chop half of a loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces, then place at the bottom of your slow cooker. For the next layer, crumble half a pound of cooked bacon over the bread. Pour the egg mixture in the slow cooker, then coat the top with a layer of finely shredded cheddar cheese. Allow this casserole to cook on low for 6-7 hours, and by the time you wake up, you'll be basking in the aroma of your all-inclusive homemade buffet.

Due to the slow ramp up, and even heating of a slow cooker, recipes featured on this site can be cooked in a range of slow cooker sizes. Recipes can be increased or decreased by one quart size per the cooking instructions. For smaller sauces and dips that calls for 3 quarts or less, it is not recommended to alter the unit size.
