There's nothing more satisfying than snuggling up with your favorite blanket and a mug of warm cider on a cool autumn evening. Whether you're having your girlfriends over to watch the latest episode of "Scandal" or you're entertaining guests for a football party, your slow cooker can be used to create a tantalizing batch of delectable fall drinks ideal for any event.

As you're making preparations for your evening plans, be sure to turn on your slow cooker and start brewing one of these beverages:

1. Hot Spiced Cherry Cider
Few scents mark the beginning of fall more than cinnamon and apple - both of which are key ingredients in this satisfying cider. You'll need about 3 1/2 quarts of apple cider, 2 cinnamon sticks and 6 ounces of cherry flavored gelatin. For a scrumptious spin, consider getting your cider from a local mill - and don't forget some fresh donuts while you're there. Set your slow cooker to high and pour in the cider. Place the cinnamon sticks in the pot and allow the beverage to cook for about three hours. Add the gelatin after the mixture has sat for a while, then allow it to dissolve for the next hour. Be sure to serve this cider warm.

2. Mulled Apple Cider
If you prefer a more complex cider replete with various spices, opt for this brew. Begin by adding 2 quarts of apple cider to your slow cooker, then slowly stirring in the following ingredients: 1/2 cup light brown sugar, 1 teaspoon whole allspice, 1 1/2 teaspoons whole cloves, 3 sticks of cinnamon and 2 large oranges, sliced. Continue to stir the ingredients until the brown sugar has completely dissolved. Let the drink heat on the low setting of your slow cooker for about two to four hours. Before serving this drink to your guests, run it through a sifter to remove the spices.

3. Hot Spiced Wine
Ciders aren't the only beverages that lend themselves well to your slow cooker - if you are searching for a savory and spicy alcoholic option, consider this one. Pour three to four bottles of your favorite red wine in your slow cooker and set it on low. Stir in 1 cup of sugar, 6 whole cloves and 4 cinnamon sticks. Core and slice 6 apples into thin pieces, then add the fruit to the pot. Allow this beverage to heat for about 4 to 5 hours. Be sure to strain before serving this warm drink to your friends.

Please drink responsibly. Obey legal drinking age laws.
